Breast Cancer Treatments

Breast cancer is a disease where the cells in the breast begin to grow.

Breast cancer Treatment can conclude:

  • SURGERY
  • RADIATION THERAPY
  • CHEMOTHERAPY
  • HORMONE THERAPY
  • TARGETED THERAPY
  • IMMUNOTHERAPY

There are several types of therapy depending on the size and location of the Tumor. Now we will come to know about all these above therapies in brief:

Radiation Therapy:-

Radiation is a powerful tool in treating your cancer. This therapy involves high-energy X-rays directed at the tumour site to kill any cancer cells that may remain there after surgery.

How does it work…?

  • These days destroy a cell’s ability to divide and therefore prevent them

growth. X-rays affect both healthy cells and cancerous cells.

  • Healthy or normal cells can recover and eventually function and

grow as they did before.

  • Cancer cells are permanently damaged preventing them from resuming their growth.
  • Radiation therapy is directed externally to the entire breast.
Treatment plan:-

It is an outpatient procedure that generally occurs five days a week for an average of three to six and half weeks. This will take only a few minutes and also it is a painless process.

Side effects:
  • It is fatigue.
  • It is seen skin reaction like sunburn.
Chemotherapy:-

Chemotherapy for breast cancer is generally well tolerated but it is the sort of chemotherapy you already expect to come in as an outpatient to get an infusion of the medication and come back two or three weeks later. During this period, you can work ad generally do that over about three months, and of course, it has side effects and air loss is one of them. It is different from hormonal therapy which is usually not an infusion but a pill from medication ab estrogen-blocking medication is less intense but has its side effects.

Targeted Therapy:-

Targeted therapy in breast cancer. There are in a new era where we are looking for the new targets in breast cancer. However, one of the very of important targets therapy in the breast cancer is Anti Her directed targeted therapy. This therapy is something that is given to a patient who is r2 positive in breast cancers?

There are various drugs available for anti her tool like……
• Trastuzumab
• Epratuzumab
• HDMI
• Lapatinib

So various drugs are available. Usually among these drugs trastuzumab is the very important drug. So, this anterior therapy or targeted therapy or this drug is given only to the positive patient.

Hormone Therapy:-

Hormonal therapy is essential for estrogen-sensitive breast cancer treatment.

Let’s know more about it.

If you are having breast cancer there’s an 80% chance that your tumor is Estrogen Receptor-positive. This means that you will be benefited from estrogen-blocking medication typically pills for up to 10 years. So having Estrogen doesn’t entirely mean that you will not need or benefit from chemotherapy in addition to hormonal therapy and a leap forward in breast cancer care over the last decade. Our genomic assays help us to determine better whether you will need hormonal therapy alone hormonal l therapy or chemotherapy.

For Estrogen Receptor-positive breast cancer this estrogen-blocking or anti-estrogen medication usually pills but there are some other forms and incredibly effective at killing cancer cells from growing. Generally, two types are used, the most one is called tamoxifen and there are some other variations. We have been using this drug to great effect for the last 30 to 40 years. There’s another class of drugs called aromatase inhibitors and there are three to four versions of those. So hormonal therapy is more effective because it can interact with any of those cells that may or may not be there for up to 10 years suppressing them or killing them.

IMMUNO Therapy:-

Immunotherapy treatment for cancer Isa medical therapy that helps a person’s immune system attack or fights cancer they have unfortunately got. All of us have got a variety of immune cells in our bodies.
which can detect problems like an infection but they can also pick up the significant problems like cancer. The problem in the past has always been that although the immune system has been able to detect cancer, it’s always had difficulty destroying established tumors and these are tumors that your doctor or other healthcare professionals would have picked up. Immunotherapy treatment stimulates your immune system to get past these initial blocks if you like to attack the cancer cells and that can lead to the eradication of advanced tumors and also prevents tumors from coming back.
